Welcome
Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website.
My journey along the path of Yoga has been incredibly inspiring and healing. My enthusiasm for practicing Yoga, Buddha-dharma and Ayurveda and for sharing them with others continues to grow with each passing day. This enthusiasm is born of my deep belief in their efficacy … these practices and therapies really are healing and transformational. They help keep the body healthy, the mind clear and the heart open. And if we take the teachings to heart, we will surely find them expanding into every corner of our lives. Each of our lives is an indivisible whole. It is in this way that daily practice, a balancing diet and lifestyle and our own highest aspirations can transform our respective lives in very profound ways.
In my own experience weaving yoga and Buddhist teachings and methods into an integral and individualized practice, which includes the practice of ethical precepts and is supported by an Ayurvedic approach to healing and well-being, is of great benefit. Since we are multi-dimensional beings it makes sense that we stand to benefit from a multi-dimensional practice that nourishes us on many different levels. I practice and teach yoga from this interdisciplinary perspective (see practice notes). It is certainly not the only approach or path. The Buddha, as one example, is reputed to have said that there are 84,000 Dharma gates- practices for achieving liberation. We each have to find our own way. I’m grateful for my path and for all of the teachers, students, friends and teachings that have inspired and helped me along the way.
Yoga’s many benefits flow from consistently and enthusiastically doing one’s practice in a safe, appropriate and non-obsessive way. As Sri K. Pattabhi Jois’ put it in his now famous prescription: “Practice and all is coming”. As you travel along your path please let me know if I can be of service. May your journey be fruitful.
May all beings be healthy, happy and free!
Thank you for sharing the path of awakening with me!!
Om Shanti,
-Mike
